How to relieve aches and pains?
We have all felt at one time or another these pains making our muscles stiff, hard, and weakened following intense exercise or fatigue. These are aches, generally caused by small cracks in the muscle fibers. They are painful when moving or stretching, and can affect all muscles in the body, particularly those of the arm, back, and calf. Furthermore, it is important to distinguish between aches and cramps, the latter being an involuntary and painful contraction of a muscle which commonly affects the elderly or pregnant people. Here are our methods which have proven their effectiveness in relieving muscle aches.

1. What causes body aches?
A contraction or stretch is enough to cause muscle pain. Several factors are responsible for the appearance of muscle aches:
- Intensive physical effort: the muscles are not trained to withstand the pressure and load imposed on them. In addition, practicing an unusual activity can also impact their condition. This leads to damage to fibrous tissues which normally occurs 24 hours after intense exercise.
- Resumption of physical activity after a long period of sedentary lifestyle: straining the muscles for several hours after a long rest causes aches and pains in the muscle area concerned.
- A poor warm-up, poor posture or a fall during physical activity.
- Dehydration and stress: poor hydration includes a lack of oxygen, but muscles need this chemical element as well as mineral salts to work better. As a result, they become more fragile and less elastic. Moreover, stress is known to promote an increase in muscle tone which intensifies muscle pain in the case of non-rest. Aches mainly appear in the neck and back.
- Viral infection: the inflammatory reaction of the immune system triggers the action of the lymph nodes to fight the virus through the production of lymphocytes. This reaction of the body can be the cause of muscle aches. The most common infections are flu and fever, but can also concern certain pathologies such as hepatitis, malaria, thyroid, etc.
- Taking certain medications: medications from the fibrate family are specifically used to reduce cholesterol levels, but also high levels of triglycerides and uric acid in the blood vessels. Their side effects often lead to microtrauma of muscle cells.
From a medical point of view, aches and pains come from accumulations of blood in the tissues caused by rupture of blood capillaries. Note that everyone is susceptible to aches and pains.
2. How to prevent body aches?
Not having aches and pains is not completely possible. However, you can reduce the intensity of the pain by taking a few precautions.
Limit physical exertion while warming up the muscles and practicing some stretching exercises. Your tendons will be more flexible and your muscles sufficiently relaxed. Above all, don't forget to hydrate yourself properly, because the supply of oxygen in the blood is very important.
Sleeping well, not smoking, drinking 1.5 liters of water per day and having a varied diet are part of the lifestyle to adopt to limit muscle pain and have a healthier life. These are simple and easy everyday measures to preserve health.
Additionally, despite their benign nature, muscle soreness can impact muscle tissue performance, including muscle weakness and reduced range of motion. In addition, they can impact the proper functioning of tendons and ligaments.
3. What are the solutions to body aches?
The treatment of aches and pains is not necessarily medication. In fact, you can treat aches and pains at home, without consulting a doctor. Here are some solutions that have proven their effectiveness:
has. Classic solutions
- Stop sporting activities within 24 to 48 hours after the aches, because this is when the pain is most severe. Doing muscle recovery is essential to release the pressure and contraction experienced by the cells. However, it is advisable to practice gentle sports to make the aches disappear more quickly. You can, among other things, walk, stretch, cycle, etc.
- Taking a warm bath and massaging sore muscles with massage oil can relieve pain and improve your blood flow.
- Applying heat like a heating bag or hot water bottle soothes inflammation and relaxes muscles.
- Take classic type 1 analgesics or anti-inflammatories prescribed by a doctor such as paracetamol in the case of very intense pain. Creams available in pharmacies are also effective in reducing pain.
The pain usually disappears after 5 to 7 days of muscle recovery. However, if it persists, it is best to consult a doctor to receive adequate medical treatment.
